Sales Tax Information for US Customers

Updated July 14, 2024:

Following the 2018 US Supreme Court decision, Wayfair v South Dakota, online merchants are now obligated to collect and remit sales tax in the states that they have reached an economic nexus in, regardless of where the business is domiciled. As of this writing, Peitz's Coins, LLC, only has the obligation to collect sales tax in the State of Iowa. Iowa exempts many types of purchases in the coin collecting and precious metals world from sales tax, so only the following items are taxed in Iowa:

  • All copper products
  • Any coin that is not or has never been legal tender in any country of the world
  • Processed Items, such as colorized coins, plated coins, etc.
  • Collecting supplies, such as albums, folders, flips, tubes, etc.

All other numismatic and bullion products in the State of Iowa are exempt from sales tax.
